Science and Social Studies Education for Gifted Students

There are many different definitions of who the gifted child is. According to the most widely accepted definition among these, a person who shows a high level of performance in many of the mental abilities compared to his peers, has a strong creativity, and never gives up when he starts a job is called gifted. These people are superior to 98% of a randomly selected person of their age. Generally, all definitions agree that gifted children are more advanced thinkers than their peers. The analogy to be made based on these definitions: Gifted children are athletes running marathons while their peers are walking. In this run, we encounter the necessity of a regular and systematic training to reach the arrival line. In this study, after defining the gifted students, the general characteristics of these students, the theories of giftedness and the science and social sciences teaching methods-techniques to the gifted students, exemplary science and social science activities were introduced to the gifted students.
